A Bit about me.
I live in Los Angeles with my wife and cat and bunny rabbit. You heard right, I have a rabbit. I came out here as an actor about 5 years ago. While I was out here I had the usual toils any actor goes through, so yes I was broke. At the same time that I also met my future wife. Who's couch I was staying on. Nice right.
One very clear day something clicked and I don't think it was subtle either because I suddenly realized that I was on unemployment, living off my girl friend, waiting for the next audition like my life depended on it. What was I doing with my life??
OK I am not going to go into all of the sticky details but once I reached my boiling point I needed to make money.
We always seem to make our best choices when we are at a Precipice.
I turned to Craigslist and discovered a firm was hiring for loan officers. I Had no idea what that meant but it said that I could make 6 figures by the end of the first year.
I didn't have enough money in my bank account to be a skeptic, so I went for it!
Got the job, got my real estate license, and began my adventure!
BUT... I did not stay that job long because I could sense that it was not the type of environment that I wanted. (find the right environment)
I quickly found a friend of a friend who had his own company. I met with him, he liked me and I started job the following week.
And so it was that I did make 6 figures within my first year!
This went on for a few years all the while I was given the autonomy I needed to still be an actor and go to auditions but it was nice not having to sit by the phone waiting for the next audition as if my bank account was desperate for it.
Suddenly however there was the MORTGAGE CRISIS!! Boom! Market crash ed in late 2007. The party was over. I was still able to make some money over the next year but it wasn't enough considering that now I was married, had 2 car notes, a good size mortgage, and 2 pets to feed. My wife wouldn't have had a problem supporting me but we couldn't survive on just her income alone.
OK! This is where things become relevant to you!! ( And let me just say that if I thought that my real estate job gave me autonomy with a great paycheck, it's nothing compared to the potential of the Internet. There is no other boss but you and this business can work on autopilot.)
One day I was recruited by this Multi Level Marketing Company. And if you don't know what that is you may have heard of Network Marketing. This company was a financial company that seemed promising. There is kind of a long lasting stigma associated with MLM companies but I don't necessarily subscribe to that. I think any business you have to understand the ins and outs and dissect it. So I was prepared to figure out how to make money at this new prospect. Well I started looking online for information about them and then realized based on certain sites that they had a bad rap. Sites such as rip off report and some blogs. There was also another site that talked about how to make money online using a system of Lead capturing that didn't entail signing up your entire family and friends. I was so intrigued that I stayed up all night doing more research into it. I was discovering that I could get pin-pointed leads online coming after me and not the other way around.
Well what I eventually deciphered was The Internet marketing funnel. This is the tool that MLM companies, Affiliate Marketers, Network Marketers and most other online business owners use to find great success.
By spending hours soaking up all of this information. I realized that I wanted to use this system but find my own NICHE.
I looked hard and long. Frankly I was getting burnt out from syntax overload. Too much computer... ahhhhh!!!
Then one day my wife, who was worried that I was having a love affair with my computer said,
"Maybe you should talk to Frida's husband Chris, Frida said that he taught himself HTML from scratch."
I knew the wonderful couple Frida and Chris from various events. I was impressed by his talents but didn't really see how it had anything to do with what I was doing. Wow was I wrong.
Well my wife did not give up there and we then had dinner with them one evening.
Here I stood again at another precipice.
I was reaching the end of my rope frustrated that I couldn't find the right Niche
also I didn't know a thing about creating a website.
I kept asking another friend I knew to to help me build my website but he was always so busy.
Well after a very satisfying cobb salad Chris turns and reveals that not only is he a master wizard with HTML as his wife had bragged about, BUT also one of the most respected Internet marketers out there.
A guru. My friend was a guru. Had no Idea!
I Felt like I had a direction to go in. I actually knew someone in direct contact with me who was doing it and very successfully I might add. Chris is a friend but also one of the best mentors and an all around good guy.
His Book "How to create a website by 3:45 this afternoon single handedly allowed me to create this site and many others. I have learned the tricks of the trade and would like to share them with you.
